We were contracted to help a company that was over committed with resources and needed extra help quickly. We took on the job of designing the frame of the trailer and reading through the design brief found areas of conflict that would not present the experience of the product as described. We presented an argument that detailed the reasons for the changes required and these were eventually granted and signed off.
Researching the ADR rules and building a list of suppliers who could provide the parts required for the build, such as axles, brakes and towing hitch. The project took 100 hours of design time. This included the time to build the requirements list and research all the design details allowing the design to flow and the manufacture of the trailer to meet the specifications required for a 3.5 ton trailer.
A bill of materials was required and a cutting list to help with procurement, as well as the process of manufacture, maintaining lead time constraints. The final shell and manufacture were completed by the trailer manufacturers designer and build team.
